Scientific events

Our scientific events program is designed to provide students with a dynamic and engaging learning environment that goes beyond traditional academic training. Through a variety of formats, these initiatives foster intellectual curiosity, strengthen analytical and communication skills, and encourage critical reflection on the role of science in society. Together, they offer students opportunities to learn, collaborate, and engage with scientific, ethical, and societal questions in innovative and accessible ways.

Please note that you can find all our upcoming events in the “News and events” section.

Seminar Series

Our monthly seminar series takes place on the first Tuesday of each month and has been running continuously for three years. The seminars are organized by a dedicated group of student volunteers, primarily M1 students, with the organizing committee rotating annually. This student-led initiative provides valuable opportunities for professional development and exposure to cutting-edge research in the field.

Workshops

Our Graduate School organizes workshops on diverse subjects designed to enhance student training and professional development. These hands-on sessions complement the core curriculum by providing specialized skills and knowledge across various research methodologies, technical competencies, and professional development areas. Workshops offer students practical tools they can immediately apply to their research and future careers.

Topics of previous workshops

  • The Last Year of the PhD
  • How to design a scientific poster
  • Science communication with journalists
  • Un-jargonize your science with MEG alumnus Elodie Chabrol
  • Science communication on Twitter
  • Survival guide to writing
  • Ontology of value career development workshop
  • For women in Science: l’Oréal-UNESCO Young Talent program
  • Afterworks with MEG alumni run by G.E.N.E. mentors

Scientific Content Creation

We actively encourage students to engage in science communication through podcast creation. Students receive guidance and tools to develop their own scientific podcasts, allowing them to explore complex topics in an accessible format while developing valuable communication skills. Recent podcast topics produced by our students include « Epigenetics and Transmission» (episode 1/episode 2)  et « Epigenetics Clock » (episode 1/episode 2)demonstrating their ability to tackle cutting-edge research themes and make them engaging for broader audiences.

Documentaries and debat

During the first week of the academic year, we screen thought-provoking documentaries exploring the intersections of science, gender equality, ethics, and society. These carefully selected films examine critical issues facing the scientific community and the broader implications of research on society. Each screening is followed by facilitated discussions, providing students with opportunities to critically engage with important questions about scientific practice, equity, social responsibility, and the real-world impact of research. This event sets the tone for the year by fostering a culture of reflection, dialogue, and awareness from the very beginning of students’ academic journey.
