G.E.N.E. was pleased to organize the 7th edition of its annual workshop dedicated to supporting PhD students and postdoctoral researchers in preparing their applications for the prestigious Fondation L’Oréal – UNESCO Young Talents France For Women in Science Award.

During this meeting, participants had the opportunity to speak with Rotana Tiv, head of the national and international program at L’Oréal, as well as with Marta Sablik and Marie Robert, two awardees of the 2025 cohort. Aurore Claude Taupin, awardee of the 2023 cohort, also shared her experience, illustrating how perseverance can ultimately pay off.

Participants were able to ask all their questions about preparing the application file, while the award recipients shared valuable advice on the key elements that contributed to their success. They warmly encouraged participants to take the leap and, in the event of an unsuccessful application, to apply again, emphasizing that the impact of this award can be decisive for the next stages of their careers.

An inspiring moment of discussion greatly appreciated by the participants

I am a PhD student in 2nd year in biology, and I would like to warmly thank you for organizing this workshop. Beyond the valuable guidance regarding participation in the awards, I found it very stimulating for the continuation of our research. I also greatly appreciated the emphasis on the fact that this is a valuable exercise that is not necessarily successful on the first attempt, and that it is worth persevering. Even if I do not receive the award, I remain very grateful for the motivation and the high quality of this workshop.” Sophie Le Grand

I would like to sincerely thank you for organizing this workshop. I had the opportunity to participate last year and again this year, and I found it extremely helpful both times. I truly appreciate the effort you put into making it such a valuable experience.Tiya Jahjah
